Goodreads Synopsis:
There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of theShiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before.

My Thoughts:

First off I want me some hot, dangerous Raven boys. Yummy. The Raven Boys was a great read. There is drama and intrigue strapped with mystery and forbidden romance. I am a big fan of Maggie's and I had extremely high expectations for this one and I was not disappointed.

The character's are what made this book amazing. The depth and the time that Maggie put into the characters stories and personalities was great. I find that when you can invest yourself fully into the characters, it brings the story to life that much more.

Blue comes from a quirky family of all female psychics. She is used to weird. Not having any phsycic abilities of her own, she feels like a bit of an outcast. But Blue has the greatest fgift of all, she magnifies everyone else's abilities. As time goes by she will learn that this is the more important. Blue swore she would never get invovled with any of the Raven Boys. The rich, self-entitled boys who attend Aliongby, an all boys school just outside of her hometown. She doesn't realize that her life will become more entwined with their's than she ever thought possible.

Gansey has spent years searching for the impossible. He wants answers. He knows in his heart that magic exists and he will stop at nothing to find it. The responsibilies of his friends are taking their toll on Gansey. He wants to help and fix all their problems but Gansey doesn't realize that some things jut cannot be fixed.

Adam is nothing like the other Raven Boys. He doesn't come from money and his home life is horrible. Aliongby is his only ticked out of his hellhole of a life. His friends don't understand ad no matter how hard he tries he never feels like one of them. But he believes in Gansey and he will help his friends no matter what.

Ronan is the self-proclaimed bad boy. He literally is the self-entitled rich boy who doesn't care about anything. But Ronan has secrets of his own and he is more loyal than anyone will give him credit for.

Noah is the mysterious enigma of the group. With a secret past that no one thought to question. He is the reason why they all end up together, even though no one knows it.

I loved this book. Everything blends so seamlessly and you won't even realize it's over until it's over. Maggie keeps the suspense and drama building until the very last word. I am so freaking excited for book 2 (currently untitled) If you haven't read the Raven Boys yet you are seriously missing out!
